REALITY:

The levels of water treatment substances vary widely among countries, states, and municipalities and often exceed regulatory limits. This variability can result from differences in water sources, treatment processes, infrastructure, and regulatory standards

WARNING:

Extended exposure to inhaling evaporated chlorinated tap water can be hazardous, with severe health consequences.

Water treatment chemicals in evaporated gas form pose a higher risk to human health due to their potential for inhalation. In some cases, prolonged exposure to high concentrations of certain water treatment chemicals, such as chloramines or disinfection byproducts, has been associated with adverse neurological effects, including potential impacts on cognitive function and IQ.

Chlorine gas on its own is extremely toxic and irritates the respiratory system, causing symptoms like coughing, chest tightness, and difficulty breathing. Prolonged exposure can lead to more severe conditions such as bronchitis, pneumonia, and even life-threatening pulmonary edema. Individuals with pre-existing respiratory issues, like asthma or COPD, face heightened risks.

Prolonged exposure to high concentrations of fluoride vapour could potentially lead to systemic effects such as skeletal fluorosis, a condition characterised by bone and joint problems.

Long-term exposure, especially in poorly ventilated areas, may lead to chronic respiratory problems and lung damageand other adverse health effects. Preventive measures, including proper ventilation and water filtering, are essential to mitigate risks and ensure safety.
